The NC Department of Administration’s Purchase & Contract Division launched a newly enhanced electronic Vendor Portal (eVP) for its eProcurement system on July 10, making it easier both for vendors and procurement agents to sell or buy goods and services for state agencies. The new eVP consolidates the functionality of state government’s three procurement applications into a single, cloud-based system, allowing for greater efficiency among North Carolina businesses and state procurement professionals.

This year, 17 North Carolina high school girls will participate in the Lady Cardinal Mentorship Program, a summer enrichment opportunity nurturing student interest in state government science, technology, engineering and mathematic career fields. On July 10, students will embark on a 4-week hands-on educational experience at one of 12 participating state government agencies.

In commemoration of Old Glory, Governor Roy Cooper declared June 14, 2023, as Flag Day. This national day of observance recognizes the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1777, and pays homage to this symbol of democracy and freedom that serves as a beacon for all Americans. All North Carolinians are encouraged to display the U.S. flag at full staff to honor our country, history, service members and veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces.

In tribute to the sacrifices of our armed services personnel, Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities be flown at half-staff from sunrise until 12 noon on Monday, May 29 in honor of Memorial Day. Statement from Governor Cooper“This Memorial Day, we honor the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who have lost their lives in the defense and service of our country. I am grateful for the countless sacrifices that they, along with their surrounding friends and families have made for us.”

Today, 85 students, representing 28 North Carolina counties, will embark on a 10-week educational internship experience at North Carolina state government agencies. This year, the program features 80 projects from clean energy to instructional design.

Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff immediately until sunset Thursday, May 11, 2023 to honor the victims of the tragedy that occurred in Allen, Texas on Saturday. Join us  Individuals, businesses, schools, municipalities, counties and other government subdivisions are also encouraged to fly flags at half-staff for the duration of time indicated.

Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, May 15 in honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day. Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to half-staff beginning immediately until sunset Saturday, May 6, in honor of U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Jackson Forringer who died during training in California on April 20, 2023. Lance Cpl. Forringer was assigned to the 2nd Marine Regiment at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He joined the Marine Corps in July 2021.Services for Lance Cpl. Forringer will be held on Saturday, May 6, in Chesnee, South Carolina.

Governor Roy Cooper ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Sunday, May 7, 2023 in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day.In accordance with Public Law 107-51, flags are to be lowered annually in recognition of the many firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Governor Roy Cooper has declared May 5 as a Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women to raise awareness about the disproportionate rate of American Indian and Alaska Native women who have disappeared from their homes and lost their lives due to acts of violence. “Too many communities, especially communities of color, are impacted by violence,” said Governor Cooper. “As we raise awareness about the disproportionate rate of missing and murdered indigenous women, we also recommit ourselves to pursuing justice for them and their families.”
