We provide a disposition audit trail and return maximum value for the state’s personal property. Funds from sales are returned to the state budget. - Effective January 4, 2027, the Division of Surplus Property will no longer accept cash as a form of payment.
- This change is being made in response to changes in the availability of U.S. coinage and to ensure secure, efficient, and accurate payment processing.
- Beginning January 4, 2027, all payments must be made using one of the following accepted methods:
- Visa
- Mastercard
- Cashier’s Check
- Official or Certified Bank Check
- Money order
- Awarded auction items will continue to be payable online with Visa or Mastercard 24/7. A 2.75% processing fee applies to all credit card transactions.”

- The warehouse, retail store and vehicle lot at 6501 Chapel Hill Road operate 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Keys for viewing auction vehicles are not issued after 4 p.m. We are unable to process payments after 4:30 p.m.

The State Surplus Property Agency operates its retail store at 6501 Chapel Hill Rd, Raleigh, NC and has authorized the operation of off-site retail stores at several state universities for immediate cash sale, including: North Carolina State University, UNC-Chapel Hill, UNC-Greensboro, East Carolina University, UNC-Wilmington, UNC-Pembroke, UNC-Charlotte.
