Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Resources
Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault
The NC Council for Women & Youth Involvement provides funding to programs across the state that help domestic violence and sexual assault victims through hotlines, transportation services, community education programs, daytime services, call forwarding during the night, and other services. CFWYI also collects statewide statistical data on domestic violence and sexual assault services in North Carolina.
Domestic violence is defined as attempting to cause bodily injury or placing a victim or a member of the victim's family in fear of serious bodily injury or continued harassment resulting in significant emotional distress. The definition includes stalking, rape and sexual offenses. North Carolina General Statutes 14-27.2-14.27.7 define rape and other sexual offenses.
Programs are available to help victims of domestic violence or sexual assault through hotlines, transportation services, community education programs, daytime services, call forwarding during the night, and other services. If you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic violence and/or sexual assault, you can find nearby resources that can help using the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Programs Directory. That list of programs is non-exhaustive, it only features programs receiving funding from the NC Council for Women & Youth Involvement.
Through advocacy, training, and technical assistance, North Carolina Victim Assistance Network supports the rights and well-being of surviving loved ones of homicide victims and others harmed by violent crime in North Carolina.
