Honoring National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day

Governor Roy Cooper has ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Oct. 10, 2022 in honor of National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day. In accordance with Public Law 107-51, flags are to be lowered annually in recognition of the many firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

“Today, we honor the fallen firefighters in North Carolina and across the country. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to these heroes and their loved ones and we will continue to support firefighters protecting our communities every day.”


Note  
National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day is Sunday, Oct. 9. However, since this holiday falls on a Sunday, flags at state facilities will be lowered to half-staff on Monday.
