Flag Alert: Lowering of United States and North Carolina Flags in Tribute to Two Soldiers Killed

RE: Lowering of United States and North Carolina Flags in Tribute to Two Soldiers Killed

Governor Roy Cooper today ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered immediately to half-staff in tribute to Spc. Christopher Michael Harris of Jackson Springs, N.C. and Sgt. Jonathon Michael Hunter of Columbus, Ind.

Harris and Hunter were killed Wednesday in Afghanistan. Both men were assigned to 2nd Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Bridge Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg.

Flags should remain at half-staff until sunset on Monday, Aug. 7.
